6My name is Stephanie and I've been an Avon Representative for 7 years. I'm a President's Club representative, which means I sell over £8,000 of Avon products each year and am in the top 6% of representatives in the UK.
I started Avon after I was made redundant, at the same time that my mother was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. Not working meant I was able to spend a lot of precious time with her in her last few months but afterwards I couldn't face job hunting. I met an Avon sales leader at a nail course I was doing - and that was because I'd done my mum's nails and massaged her hands whilst I was looking after her, and she'd loved that. Anyway, I met this Avon lady and she gave me her card. And, of course, I put it in my bag and forgot about it.
A couple of months later, I came across the card and thought, why not? i wasn't doing anything except with my sisters going through the stress of probate. I'd never sold anything before, and hadn't a clue whether I'd be any good at it. I've never even tried an Avon product - or not knowingly. But I started and fell in love with the products - and with talking about them to my customers.
And then, another blow, only a couple of months after that I was diagnosed myself with breast cancer but I was determined to keep on with my Avon, even during chemotherapy. It gave me something else to think about than feeling ill, and the more my time was scheduled by the needs to attend hospital for treatment and by the recovery time, the more stubbornly determined I became. Even when I could only serve a couple of customers in my own road, because I couldn't walk any further, I kept on. Just to tell that disease - you're not beating me! I'm going to do whatever I want and you're not stopping me!! (in case you're interested, I'm now in remission.)
What I love most about Avon is its flexibility. Even now that I work nearly full time again, I can manage my Avon business in my spare time. And i love the products - all my make up is Avon, I use their Nutraeffects face cream, shower gel and shampoo from Avon, suncream, perfume... My watch is Fiorelli - bought from Avon. A lot of my shoes are Avon. Ok, perhaps I'm addicted but when I can get it at 25% discount - off already reasonable prices - why not?
